When a new Desktop or Laptop is purchased, it comes with bundled software, most of them would be trial versions. One such software is Mcafee Anti Virus.
After installing the program from Add / remove programs, still would not be able to install another Anti Virus program of choice. To overcome this can follow the following steps.
1) Download the following utility MCPR.exe ( Best to google and find the current link ). At the moment it can be downloaded from here, after downloading it install and hopefully it would clear and allow you to install another antivirus program.
2. If after Step 1, still struggling, can try this.
Open the Registery Editor and browse to the following location.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\
and delete enteries starting with "MFE"
In case getting error "File System Filter Driver" Error, can just delete
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\mfeavfk
and it would allow you to install
